Our Vision
IAD is focused on addressing the issues of period poverty and menstrual rights. We envision a day of activism, focus and commitment to ensuring the issues and challenges faced globally are brought to the table.
In order to achieve gender justice, the issues of period poverty and menstrual health must be addressed. Driven by poverty and inequality, stigma and violence, access to resources, products, and information are often unavailable to those who need it the most. For too long, patriarchal institutions have prevented all who menstruate from exercising their human rights, and dismissed the significance of period poverty from the political agenda.
Our goal is to address period poverty’s multifaceted consequences by increasing menstrual health, dignity and access to resources for all women and girls. Not only keeping girls in school longer, enabling women to attend work without fear, providing sufficient hygiene to women in custody, but ensuring that all those who menstruate enjoy basic human rights.
